Wreath Making

So it was a dreary day.

And I had all this paper.

Not enough for a class but too much to really keep around. What to do?   I thought I would try to make a wreath from the Sizzix Scallop Circle and my extra cardboard.  And it seems to have worked.  These are on the french doors of my studio leading to the deck.  Just a touch of the holidays.  One is all the extra Riding Hood Red, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip Designer Series Paper from last year and the one below is the Kiwi Kiss DSP from last year. Both have 1 inch Real Red Grosgrain ribbon from this year.

To do your own you will need:
  • Christmas colors of DSP cut to about 5x5 (Hostess Pattern packs, old DSP, anything goes! Spring or Easter wreath? Halloween or Fall wreath? hmmmm . . . . )
  • Cardboard from DSP packs also cut about to 5x5
  • Tombow
  • Sticky Strip
  • Color Coach
  • 1 inch wide Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Glue Dots

First I took the cardboard from the DSP pack (I hoard these!) and paired it up with the paper I wanted to use.

I cut them together (with the DSP face down) with the Sizzix Scallop Circle ( pg 199).  If you do a wreath as big as mine you will need about 20.

Adhere the DSP to the cardboard with Tombow. Arrange them around the outside of Color Coach for a good circle. (I grabbed the first thing I could find that looked like it would make a good wreath form. That's why you need the Color Coach!)

After you carefully space and arrange the scallop circles around the Color Coach, pick each up individually and place sticky strip on the back, peel and adhere to it's neighbor to the top. I used Sticky Strip so that the weight of the circles would not sag or come apart as they hung.  Repeat around the circle, carefully keeping your spacing around the Color Coach.

Tie a bow with 1 in ribbon and adhere with a Glue Dot.  You're done.  Thanks for coming by today.

Snowflake #2 Makes An Easy Holiday Card

Enjoy this snowflake card I created for a class last week.

Layer Whisper White and another neutral cardstock color. I used Mellow Moss. You could also use Old Olive or Chocolate Chip.

Then use our Snowflake #2 Sizzix Original Die and a piece of your neutral (in my case a piece of Mellow Moss) to cut a snowflake. Now cut another snowflake out of another coordinating cardstock. Add a coordinating Circle Rhinestone Brad (pg 179) and one of our great greetings from Four the Holidays. No need to adhere the snowflake because the brad does the work!
Have lots of fun creating different combinations. My class did!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

I'm so sorry to be a slack poster

[Hope this makes up for it . . . ]

Try a window sheet card!

Cut a window sheet to card size and score it. I used the nifty Patterned Pines hostess set for this project.

Stamp the front with the snowflake in the Patterned Pines stampset with White Staz-On. Give it just a minute to dry. Next, stamp the trees on Whisper White and mat them. I used Night of Navy and Old Olive. Then I stamped an extra tree and cut it out and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The trick for a window sheet card is to make the inside greeting piece the same size as the outside piece. Therefore the Night of Navy piece is cut to the same size as the inside greeting and hides it. So the snowflakes star on the window sheet. Neat huh?

Email me if you loved this?

Have a great day!

Smarty Pants

OK, smarty pants!

Here is a Wine Not Stamp Club project from last week. We used Cast-a-Spell DSP, added old Frankie from Batty For You stamp set and some of our wonderful 1 1/4-inch wide grosgrain that has just enough "give" in it to make a great knot on your card.  Do try these 2 stamp sets together on a Halloween card soon.

Have a great stampin' day!

Little Boo

Ready to love your Baskets & Blooms Bigs Die all over again? Try this box modified from the basket using your Scor-Pal.

First, a big THANK YOU to Angie Juda for the inspiration. I didn't use all of her exact instructions but I used her ideas to modify the basket. If you don't have a Scor-Pal, please try her box instructions instead.

Ok here we go! With your Sizzix, die cut the two Baskets and Blooms pieces and then cut off the perforated pieces at the ends of each piece.

With your Scor-Pal position a basket piece upside down with the tip on the 4 inch mark and score at 4 1/4.  Do the same for all four sides of the basket pieces.

For the bottom of the basket piece line it up at the 6 inch mark on the Scor-Pal top to bottom. Then score it at 5 1/2 inches.

To assemble the box notch the bottom of one piece as below.

On the other piece, cut out the end squares as below. This will make the box fit together well. It will have a square base and a triangular top.  Then I recommend SNAIL or Sticky Strip as the adhesive for this project.

Have a Little Boo day!

Versatile Best Wishes And More

Originally, I did this card with the flower from Best Wishes & More. I love this color combo: Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Bordering Blue. I saw it somewhere on a SU site (and have forgotten the original designer - - but thank you!) I masked the bottom of the top layer to save room for the sentiment.

After I stamped the flowers with a thank you from Thank You Kindly stamp set I thought, "Wonder if this would look good with the snowflake?"

Added Happy Holidays with Four The Holidays from our Holiday Mini Catalog. What do you think? I am going to try it with the birds next!

Have a great day!

Garden Greetings

I did this card recently with my retired ladies. We used the remaining In Color cardstock from last year and the Five Petal Flower punch. We then punched some 1/2 Circles for the center of the flowers. We added a greeting from Garden Greetings and the Modern Label punch. This card practically made itself! What other color combinations could you do to use your scraps?

Have fun!
